Our children have been blessed with good looking skin and we have had very few outbreaks of acne. I would love to say the missing acne curse is due to great hygiene, however, it is more due to good genes and luck. However, our 15 year old son has recently come down with a few problem spots on his face. He had some "zits". Oh my gosh, what are we going to do. Since aromatherapy is now part of our life when we have problems, we immediately consulted the books to see how to best treat acne. We used an oil blend that has Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Cedarwood oils with a carrier oil such as coconut oil on the affected areas and Voila!, the acne slowly disappeared. All parents need to know this and try it on their children if they have acne. Teenage years are hard enough to survive without skin problems, so we were fortunate to find this effective "cure" early on.

Cold and flu season
This has ben a very cold and snowy season in CO. Fortunately our family has been very healthy this winter. I came down with my first cold last week and had lots of sneezes and a runny nose. Normally, when I catch a cold it lasts for over a week. This time, as soon as I started to feel a little run down, I was quick to use Thieves which is a blend of cloves, cinnamon, lemon, and rosemary. I rubbed it on my feet every night and diffused it in the bedroom (it has a great fresh scent). My cold lasted for just a few days and it was gone. The use of essentail oils and a healthier diet has been very important in my health this year.

Too much fudge
My son and I made a big mistake the other day. We ate too much chocolate fudge. An hour later we both had a terrible headache. I got out the peppermint oil which is great for relieving headaches. We rubbed a couple of drops onto our foreheads and the headaches went away. A couple of hours later my son said his headache had come back and so did mine. (We ate a lot of fudge so shame on us). We applied a little more peppermint oil before we went to bed and the headache went away so we could go to sleep.
The moral of this story is to eat just a little bite of fudge when you can not resist and Peppermint oil is a great headache reliever.
